Best books on Minimalism and how to simplify your life

A Mum in Progress was set up to help busy Mums find balance through simplicity.

My aim is to give you as much information as possible on Minimalism and how simplifying your life and being more intentional with what you let into it, can make a huge impact on your home, your family and your sense of self.

Here you can check out some of (what I think) are the best books on Minimalism and how to simplify your life.

Learning about Minimalism from different sources

Not only do I want to share my own experiences and the impact Minimalism has had on every area of my life, but I want to encourage you to learn more about it for yourself, from a whole range of different sources and different perspectives. After all, we’re all different and it’s important that you find a brand of Minimalism that works for you.

There’s no such thing as one-size-fits-all when it comes to Minimalism!

What’s more, this way you won’t just have to take my word for it, as there’s a whole bunch of others out there who also know what they’re talking about and can share their information and inspiration with you!

Best books on Minimalism and how to simplify your life

With this in mind, I’ve put together a list of books which I recommend you read to find out more about the various aspects of Minimalism, decluttering and simplifying your life.

Each of these books has inspired and motivated me to learn more about Minimalism and about myself and I highly recommend reading them.

Joshua_Becker-The_More_of_Less

The More of Less by Joshua Becker. This book helps you recognise the life-giving benefits of owning less, realise how all the stuff you own is keeping you from pursuing your dreams, craft a personal, practical approach to decluttering your home and life, experience the joys of generosity and learn why the best part of minimalism isn’t a clean house, it’s a full life.

Joshua_Becker-Clutter_Free_with_Kids

Clutterfree with Kids by Joshua Becker. Children add joy, purpose, and meaning to our lives. They provide optimism, hope, and love. They bring smiles, laughter, and energy into our homes. They also add clutter. As parents, balancing life and managing clutter may appear impossible but this book offers a new perspective.

Joshua_Becker-Simplify

Francine_Jay-The_Joy_of_Less

The Joy of Less by Francine Jay. Francine Jay pioneered the simple living movement. Rather than the “crash diet” approach found in other tidying up books, Francine shares simple steps to cultivate a minimalist mindset and form new habits, paving the way to lasting success.

Cait-Flanders_The-Year-of-Less

The Year of Less by Cait Flanders. In her late twenties, Cait Flanders found herself stuck in the consumerism cycle that grips so many of us: earn more, buy more, want more, rinse, repeat. When she realised that nothing she was doing or buying was making her happy, she decided to set herself a challenge: she would not shop for an entire year.

Joshua_Fields_Milburn-Minimalism.jpg

Minimalism: Live a Meaningful Life by Joshua Fields Milburn & Ryan Nicodemus. Minimalism is the thing that gets us past the things so we can make room for life’s most important things—which actually aren’t things at all: health, relationships, passion, growth, and contribution.

Tara_Button-A-life-less-throwaway

A Life Less Throwaway by Tara Button. Now more than ever, we live in a society where we covet new and shiny things. Not only has consumption risen dramatically over the last 60 years, but we are damaging the environment at the same time. That is why buying quality and why Tara Button’s Buy Me Once brand has such popular appeal.
